Day 01 Arrival in kashgar

Welcome you at airport

Our local guide will welcome you at the kashgar airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 02 Kashgar to Makit town

After breakfast, we will travel to Makit town which is 220kms from Kashgar, after we drive to kumkisa village which is located at the west verge of Taklamakan desert, we will start our expedition as Sven Hedin did before, we will trek in the desert by camel about 2 hours then back to Makit for overnight.   

Many people don't know about what the N39 degree is, the longest axis of the Taklamakan Desert, lies on the 39 degree north latitude. The starting point of the route is Makit Xinjiang, and it enters the desert from the point of N39 degrees 01'30 and E78 degrees 03'36. To the east, along the 39 degrees north latitude line, we will pass through Hotan River and Tazhong Highway to Ruoqiang County in the eastern end of the desert. The entire journey is about 1500 kilometers, going to encounter many difficulties. Crossing the death penalty zone has become the goal of countless explorers in the pass decates.

"N39" desert exploration originated from Swedish famous explorer Sven Hedin. 122 years ago, Sven Hedin firstly launched the longest axis activity across the hinterland of the Taklamakan desert in Xinjiang. Although the activity was not fully successful, but he got many findings and it made the Taklamakan desert "well-known". Since the Sven Hedin's crossing activity traveled along 39 degrees north latitude, it is also known as "N39" desert exploration.

Day 03 Makit town to Hotan.

In the morning, we will drive to Hotan, along the way pass through some oasis towns. The road mostly between the Taklamakan desert and Karakorum mountains.

Day 04 Explore Hotan City , First Day of Trekking

Hotam museum, local market and carpet factory,Atlas silk workshop, camel riding in the desert.

After breakfast, we will visit Hotam museum, local market and carpet factory. After lunch, we’ll visit the Atlas silk workshop in the Jia village, then drive to Taklamakan desert. we will ride camels for about 4 hours across the sand dunes before making camp and preparing for dinner. You may help the guide start a fire using scrub brush the way it has been done for ages. That the evening you may enjoy hearing the stories and jokes from our camel riders. Camp in Desert.

In the desert, we can’t have the same breakfast like in the hotels, but our breakfast making will interests you, we will make fire at desert and boil the water with our own kettle. We will enjoy local nuts, walnuts, jams, sugar, coffee, local bread and so on. After breakfast, we will pack all our things and continue our journey. Today, our tour guide will play a game with the camel man, which will teach you a little about local life in the desert villages. You will trek with the camels for about 5 hours then stop to make camp. During the ride, you will hear the songs of the shepherds, the local jokes, and the stories and myths of the cities and civilizations buried beneath the Taklamakan. Camp in Desert.

The sand dunes and occasional desert bushes make a unique vies and make you forget the modern life. During the trip, you can imagine people life in the past and how difficult the trip since the main transportation was camel and horses, no modern communication tools. Camp in Desert.

Day 07 Last Day of Camel Trekking

Today is our last day of camel trekking, so we will awaken early to catch the desert sunrise. We will have a caravan's breakfast in the desert before we ride the camels out of the desert. This area has many unique cultural experiences and you will be able to see how the local people’s daily life. After lunch, we will ride back to the village and drive back to your hotel in Hotan.

Day 08 Hotan to Niya Town

After breakfast, we will drive to Niya town, along the way we will stop at Damok ancient city which is located in the desert, once burred on the sand. Overnight in Niya.

Day 09 Niya town to Kucha Town

Today we will cross the Taklamakan desert via desert highway which is about 700 km, which is mostly towards north. we will make a few spots to break the drive and to take nice pictures of the desert. Stay overnight in Kucha.

Day 10 Kucha tour

Kucha’s Grand temple, old city, Subash Ancient Buddha ruins ,Kizil Kagha Beacon tower and Tianshan mysterious Grand Canyon

After breakfast, we’ll visit the kucha old city area and visit Kucha’s Grand Temple,which was built in the 17th Century and was the only to contain Shariya law Court in China. Then drive to the ancient city of Subash (2nd-3rd century A.D.) as well as the Ancient Kizil Kagha Beacon tower which is an ancient military outpost. In the afternoon, visit the Tianshan mysterious Grand Canyon which is located about 70km from Kucha city. The canyon is attractive not only for its color but also the shape of the mountains. Day 11 Kucha departure

Our guide will take you to the airport, end the tour.
